Match review summary: Ashy were looking ominous early in the first qtr putting pressure on the opposition, the ball pinging up and down the ground but having a little trouble finding targets up forward to convert under pressure. Jordan, Jackson and Will were providing great assistance to Flynn and Krish by getting quick movement of the ball up forward.
However, in the second qtr, the boys steadied and seemed to be implementing some of the changes discussed at qtr time. Ben took a great mark and played on with a beautiful pass to the safe hands of Max Harrington, trying his best to find a marking target up forward. The ball spent a fair bit of time in both forward lines, however if it wasn't for Jasper and co repelling repeat entries, we wouldn't have went into half time with the most slender of leads, 1 point.
The 3rd quarter started really well with the ball coming out of the centre to a leading Krish a handpass to Flynn and handpass to Jordan who found Nick out on the lead whom converted a much needed goal.
Will was involved in a great passage of play leading up to the half forward line taking a mark and goaling from 40 out.
Hugh Davies was instrumental in forward thrusts and Max Grogan looked likely just before 3qtr time putting his body on the line as 3 or 4 roy boys swarmed.
The highlight for the quarter came from Nick threading the needle with a goal from the boundary line after receiving a pass from Krish. We went into the last quarter with a 9 point lead.
Archie, Jackson and Riley teamed up to kick off the last quarter with some great ball movement and Henry provided options on numerous contests throughout the day.
Fitzroy had a few players that were very clean by hand and foot which created some challenges and we were in it until about 6 minutes to go when they kicked 3 unanswered goals. Although we went down the boys didn't give up and tried their best.
